Lists

As some of you may know I am a list maker. I love to make a list, cross things off and feel accomplished in the day. Since I ran the half marathon I have to admit I have done very close to nothing for over a week. It did take me a few days to recover from being sick but even today, 9 days later, I still find great pleasure in laying on my couch reading a book and watching a movie (at the same time of course...have to multitask). In addition I didn't get too much done off my list the few weeks prior to the run because all I could do was concentrate on the run. So, here it is, weeks of doing nothing and now I have no motivation. Where has it gone? I'm usually not like this. My desk is overrun with...who knows what, my floor is a mess which I have no desire to clean and I desperately need my mom here to catch up my ironing. (She does every time she comes and visits..I love it!) Last night I started making a list of things I really needed to get done this week. It almost filled an entire page! I usually throw in a couple good ones like...make dinner, bath kids... you know the kind you KNOW you will cross off. Perhaps those will be the only ones I cross off in the near future. If anyone happens to come across an abundance of motivation please send it home, I miss it greatly!

1. I love the smell of coffee when I'm pregnant. Shopping always takes me down that isle when I am really morning sick. Seems to calm my tummy. I have considered purchasing some just to sniff in the morning...but don't know if that is against the Word of Wisdom.
2. I'm addicted to milk...even though I shouldn't eat it. Cheese is the BEST!
3. I ran a half marathon with a full on sinus infection!
4. I love to be up in the morning sun...but by choice. It's not the same to be woken up by kids to enjoy the predawn hours.
5. I worked in the coroners office for 9 months in Las Vegas.
6. I lived in Maryland for a year.
7. I love the sound and smell of the ocean even though I have spent very little time on the coast.
8. I'm married to my best friend!

Pat-Lucky you!
Eliza-You need something to do righ?
Shawna-I always need to know more about you!
Jenn-fess up!
Janna-There's a ton of things to share...I'm sure
Kena-Good Luck!
That's it folks! You are the lucky ones with Blogs that I read regularly!!!

I Made It!

The last couple days have been a bit crazy...I don't even know where to start. Lets start with last week. I was pretty sick last week and so was Jenna. By mid-week I was thinking I was really on the mend. I woke up Friday morning to my throat feeling sand paper had been ground into it all night. My head was already starting to hurt from sinus pressure...of course I do what any normal wife would do...I call to complain to Scott. "I don't know (sob, sob, sob) what to do. (sob, sob, sob). The girls are sick, I hurt (sob, sob)." Scott - "I'll tell you what you're going to do, get dressed, put the girls in the car, drive them to me and you are going to Utah...You'll be fine!" Me - "Okay." So, away we went. I dropped the girls off at work with Scott and my friend Pat and I headed to Salt Lake. We made a brief stop in St. George and headed north. By the time I got to Sandy, where we were staying with mom and dad's friend, my sinuses were pretty much a disaster. We went to bed early because we had to be up at 4:30 Utah time, that would be 3:30 for me, to make it to the race on time. Saturday morning came and really I didn't feel too bad. My head was a bit in pain but nothing like yesterday or today. In any case I decided I could run my Half Marathon! I've been preparing for months for this! No little head cold was going to keep me down. We picked up Bryce and Havilah and Amelia and then they all dropped Bryce and I off at the Trax to take to the start of the race. The race went pretty well. I tried to run a little faster at about mile 8 but found myself coughing uncontrollably. I had to take these little breaths to recover. So, going faster was NOT an option. However at the end of it I had actually achieved my goals. 1. I ran the whole way, no walking! 2. My goal was 2 hours 30 min, I did 2 hours 31. Not too bad.
I was able to see my friend Jenn, who had a GREAT race, and her family after which was really fun. I hardly was in the mood to celebrate. By this time my head was hurting... Mom and dad were antsy to get on the road so headed out. Bryce, Havilah, Pat and I all went to lunch and ate a LOT! Then I went and got my hair done - boy was that great! After that Pat and I went up to find President Hinckley's grave. You'll never guess but it is 20 feet from GGSmiths! Now I can always find them because the Hinckleys is just a little more noticable. Pat and I relaxed with Aunt Ellen and headed home on Sunday. By Sunday morning I had no voice and was ready to decapitate myself. Thankfully Herb saved the day! (Get it?) I had a prescription ready to go when I got home. I have a sinus infection and one if not two ear infections. So you ask..was it worth it? YES!!! I'm just starting to feel better this afternoon and once my voice comes back I will really be able to celebrate!!!

Dancing Girl

This is so worth watching! We went and got Eliza some tap shoes today and she is a natural! She starts her dance classes on Friday...I'll miss her first class since I'll be on my way to Utah...I'm sure she'll be in capable hands with friends or dad.

Life's Little Messes

Today has been a bit of a challenge. It is hard to have sick kids, but it is even harder to be sick with sick kids. Jenna and I have something. I started thinking it was allergies, but after last night and today I think we have a cold. UGH. I got to the point today where the girls just went outside to play. After 10 minutes of them being too quiet I went to see what was going on. I don't know what too more energy...not crying at the mess or cleaning it up. Jenna's entire head was BLACK from dirt. I had to put her directly under the spout to get all the dirt out. It was a mess. Since then she has been happy. Perhaps it was worth it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

Yesterday was Scott's birthday! Big 31. It wasn't too exciting for him because I woke him up early so I could do my run and then we were sick all afternoon, night and today. I did manage to make him cabbage rolls and a cake, so I hope he was happy. Doesn't he look happy?

Clark County Fair

Eliza is part of a little singing group that performs at the fair. We had a great time seeing all the animals and playing in the dirt!

Breath, Eat, Sleep - RUNNING

Yesterday I had an 11 mile run to do. The previous week I ran 9 so thought this wouldn't be too bad. I don't know if I have ever felt that drained after anything (maybe giving birth to Eliza would be a close 2nd). But I did it!!! I was only supposed to do 10 but I really needed the mental knowledge that I could do 11, then what's two more miles? I was so dehydrated by the time I got home I couldn't drink enough. On the race there are water stations and for good reasons! I'll use those! After about 7 miles I was really wanting some water, but was nowhere close to home. I did pass an older gentleman out for a walk and he was caring a water bottle. The thought actually came to mind that I could run past him, grab it, have a drink and then run it back to him. What was wrong with me? Food didn't really taste good until a little later, which then I ate a ton. I even was up during the night eating...which I NEVER do! I was up just thinking about running. It might have to do with the fact that I either have really bad allergies or a nasty cold too. I couldn't breath by the time I went to bed last night. Hopefully that will be under control by next week! No days off now!

Quilt Top

Here is my project I worked on during conference. I was able to finish most of it this week. It obviously needs a border and to be quilted but I love it! I finally got around to making a nice bed spread for our bed!

I still have some other projects to keep me busy. Sometimes I run out but right now I am set! Happy quilting!

Our Brian Head Weekend

Last weekend we were able to go up to our friends' cabin in Brian Head Utah. It was beautiful! The girls had a great time, Scott was able to study and ski a little and I was able to quilt and ski. I haven't been skiing for 5 years so I was pretty happy to make it up and down the hill without breaking anything. It was just a great weekend. The girls had fun out in the snow!

The Newest Toy

Like I have mentioned before showering is always an adventure in my home. The girls were playing so nicely in my closet I knew they were up to something. I got out of the shower and opened the door to find this...

That would be the Costco size box emptied onto the floor. Only to make things better while I was drying my hair I see Eliza make two quick trips to the closet and then out again. After the second round of pitter patter I turn around to find this just a few feet behind me...
Party Favors had been unwrapped and expoloded! I just had to walk away and come back at a later time to clean up that disturbing mess... Jenna was busy chewing on the cardboard of one which made me gag right there... The things kids can do while you are standing less than 10 feet away!

I'm an Idiot!!!

Okay, I know most of my posts could be entitled this but this takes the cake! As you know I am running the Salt Lake City Half-Marathon in a couple weeks, actually a week from this Saturday! So, I was talking to Bryce about details, where to park, what time to leave, how to get there....blah blah blah. Oh, the race starts at the University and ends at the Gateway. Great! I looked at the map a while ago and thought that the Gateway was out near the airport, somewhere. Tonight as we were talking and I'm staring at he map I looked and noticed it's right near North Temple and West Temple...hmmm, I think I spent a little bit of time near there - like a year of my life walking those 18 acres of Temple Square! WE END AT TEMPLE SQUARE!!!! (basically) The Gateway is like two blocks from Temple Square. I am an idiot! In my defense I really know nothing about Salt Lake except for Temple Square. You can take me 100 yards off the block and I would be lost for a couple days. Put me back on Temple Square and I can give you details about the footings of the Temple and the rooms inside that not too many people know. Maybe after the race I'll spend a little time walking around the outside of the wall at Temple Square.

Sleeping Eliza

Eliza is a great sleeper. Yesterday I found her on the floor like this. She really can sleep anywhere and through anything. I found her up in her room the other day like this...

90 Day Supply

In our small home I thought I had about a months worth of food hidden in our one closet we can use for such things....but little did I know. Here is what 3 months worth of food looks like, this doesn't include some things I still need to get from the cannery...or any breakfasts!

Scott is shocked that this is not it. The girls think its great fun to carry things off and play with them so I now have Macaroni and mandarin oranges in various parts of the house. The bigger challenge now is figuring out how to rotate the food....
